The L B Specialist Cars STR is a close visual replica of the iconic world championship winning rally car from the 1970s, the Lancia Stratos
The STR features a CAD designed semi-monocoque chassis featuring a folded sheet metal centre structure with tubular front & rear substructures and roll over protection is offered by use of a full integral roll cage formed in seamless tubing.
In keeping with the original Lancia, the car utilises double wishbone front suspension mated to a MacPherson strut rear assembly. Steering is controlled by a custom alloy steering rack with 2 .6 turns lock to lock. The braking is provided by a non-servoed dual circuit system featuring 4 piston calipers which clamp on to 300 x 25mm ventilated discs and are controlled by a high ratio, bias adjustable pedal box.
Wheels are of the recognised Coffin spoke design which is synonymous with the Stratos shape & can be specced in 15” through to 17” sizes.
Power is typically supplied by the Alfa Romeo V6 for the UK & European markets, but there are other options in place for countries where Alfa service parts are hard to obtain. Transmissions can be either 5 or 6 speed manual.
The interior can either be fully trimmed, featuring luxuries such as air conditioning, or it can be purposeful, stripped back & minimalist like a period competition car.
The company offers all three of the conventional Stratos body options, Stradale, Gp4 round arch and Gp4 square arch. The body can either be in pre-polished gelcoat GRP or it can be painted in a colour or livery of choice. In the case of the Gp4 cars they can offer a full range of optional add ons such as lamp pods, roof scoops, chin spoiler, mud flaps etc etc.
Dependant upon specification, the STR is suited to everything from hill climbs, sprints & rallies through to circuit & track day use and continental touring.
